Yoga gives us the space to face our emotions and grieve

Grieving is the process of letting go, letting your sadness and tears out. It’s healing by feeling less numb; by trying to feel something again and learning how to live through an empty space in your life.

Okay, so this month has been rough…not going to lie.

For this week's blog, I wanted to share this personal story and remembrance of my fur baby, as well as how yoga and mediation have helped me slowly heal.

It’s been over 3 weeks since my dog, Coco, went missing. I continue to have faith, but the reality of the situation is that there is a chance I may not see her again.

My heart is torn.

The first night she went missing, my body came into a state of fight or flight. I’m sure you’ve heard this term before….

Your sympathetic nervous system goes on overdrive and it does what it can to survive.

I acted fast and did everything I needed to do to get her back.

I posted on social, sent out multiple amber alerts, put up flyers, sent emails, and visited veterinary clinics, shelters, and pet stores..spreading the word. UGH! I barely slept, couldn’t eat, and felt sick to my stomach.

I couldn’t think of anything but my little girl.

By overworking my body, I started to fade and I completely shut down that same week.

I neglected myself – my body and mind.

That same week, I went to yoga and what a difference it made! 🧘🏽‍♀️

The moment I allowed myself to settle into my breath, body, and mind…I was able to think clearer, emotionally feel better, and nourish my body.

Yoga is not just a workout…it’s so much more than that.

This is the reason why I continue this beautiful practice, not just to be physically active.

BUT, because it helps me manage any situation I have to face.

I picked up my meditation and breathwork again.

I took 10-20 minutes to focus on my breath and take this time to meditate in the morning and it has slowly helped get my body back to its regular routine.

Part of grieving is allowing you to slowly get back into your routine and focus on the positive around you.

For this reason, I feel beyond grateful and blessed for having such a great support system. My family and friends, even those thousands of miles away, were there with me every step of the way.

I would like to THANK YOU for sharing her posts on IG, reaching out to me personally, helping me put up flyers, sharing resources with me, feeding me, and most importantly for having such a BIG HEART! 🤍

I know Coco has touched many of you. She is the sweetest, loving, fearless, playful, most kind dog. 🐶

As I continue to process this form of emotional and physical loss, I am also thankful for the abundance of love and support I’ve received. 🤍🤍🤍

For this reason, I will continue to do the work that I am doing. Not only working with moms, but helping all you beautiful souls find that joy, peace, and calmness that our mind and body need.

If you have a missing dog or if you ever need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I have learned a lot from this process and would love to help you.

May the divine light shine within you.

Namaste!

xoxo
